The Phnomenological Study on the Driving Experience of Elderly Drivers

Abstract
|
|
|
Objective : The purpose of this study is to confirm the meaning of driving performance for the elderly who are currently driving and to present it as basic data that can be used when planning for safe driving of the elderly in the future.
Methods : This study was conducted with a phenomenological study method targeting a total of 5 participants. The researcher interviewed the research participants about driving and the interview contents were recorded and transcribed for in-depth analysis.
Results : This study was divided into a collection of 13 themes in 3 categories and 31 themes through the contents of the interview. The categories of study results were restrictions on driving performance, changes in driving patterns, and finding countermeasures.
Conclusion : Through this study, it was possible to confirm the meaning of elderly drivers’ driving performance. In future studies, it can be used as basic data in the process of preparing policies and systems for safe driving of elderly drivers.
